Safety & hours

In person, in public, and checked before it counts.

Teaching hours on Conexus can count as community service, so every session is verified in person and reviewed by the Conexus team. Here’s one hour of soccer on a Tuesday, from check-in to a teacher’s signature.

  1. 3:30 PM

    Meet at the booked place

Maya is teaching Eli soccer on Bishop’s upper field. Sessions can only be booked at approved public places: campuses, libraries, fields, rec centers.

  2. 3:31 PM

    Both phones check the location

Each phone confirms it’s within 50 m of the field. The next step stays locked until both pass.

  3. 3:32 PM

    Eli scans Maya’s code

The code belongs to this session only and changes every 30 seconds. There’s nothing to type, so it can’t be texted to someone who isn’t there.

  4. 4:33 PM

They check out the same way

Conexus records the time both phones were there together. Today that’s 61 minutes.

  5. That night

    Both write a summary

A short paragraph each on what was covered. Neither of them can read the other’s until both are in.

  6. Next day

    A moderator verifies it

Someone on the Conexus team reads both summaries against the check-in record. Only then do the 2 credits move and the hour count.

  7. End of term

    A teacher signs the hours

Maya sends her verified teaching hours to a teacher at her school, who signs from an emailed link. Maya downloads the certificate.
