Our story

Talent is everywhere in a high school hallway. It just points inward.

One student is sketching in the margins of a notebook. Another is debugging code in their head. A third is humming a harmony. They walk past each other every day and never speak, because nobody has given them a reason to.

Conexus is that reason. A student-run exchange where what you’re good at is worth something to the person next to you. Not because it beats them, but because it helps them.

We’re a group of high school students from The Bishop’s School, Del Norte and other San Diego schools, working to turn student talent into community impact. Conexus was started by Ivy and Yuna, Bishop’s ’28.

Busy isn’t the same as connected.

  • Students have incredible skills.
  • Many talents stay isolated.
  • Learning opportunities can be expensive.
  • Students have more to teach each other than they realize.

One dot per student we surveyed at Bishop’s and Francis Parker.

Conexus student surveys, 2025–26. About 200 responses.

“For years my excellence felt isolating. I chased podiums until I nearly burned out. Talent without purpose is a dead end.”
Yuna · Co-founder, Bishop’s ’28. Nationally ranked archer and state record holder.
“I didn’t improve until I practiced with my brother. He wasn’t a pro, but the lack of pressure changed everything.”
Ivy · Co-founder, Bishop’s ’28. Former competitive tennis player.

Our mission

Talent should create community impact, not just personal achievement.

A world where

  • no talent goes unused.
  • learning is accessible.
  • students grow together.
  • connection matters more than competition.

What could happen if every student’s talents became someone else’s opportunity? We’re building that future.

How we got here

  1. Fall 2025
    Research

Interviews with learning specialists and counselors at Bishop’s. One idea kept coming up: passion, not perfection, keeps students engaged.

  2. Winter 2025
    Survey

About 200 students at Bishop’s and Francis Parker. 96% said they’d share what they’re good at. Nearly half said they feel lonely.

  3. Spring 2026
    First pilot

An Airtable prototype tracked exchanges, confirmed they happened and moved credits for the first pilot group.

  4. Fall 2026
    The platform

Profiles, a request board, messaging and verified in-person hours, built for a school pilot.

  5. Next
    More schools

Group workshops, mentoring for younger kids in the community, and more schools across San Diego.

For schools and organizations

Bring Conexus to your campus.

We’re actively exploring partnerships with schools, youth organizations and community groups that want more student-led learning. We set up approved meeting places, our team moderates every session, and teachers sign off on service hours. It’s free.
